Deniz Mall

Located on land reclaimed from the Caspian Sea, Deniz Mall covers a massive 300,000 square feet on five floors, making it the largest shopping mall in the Caucasus region. The Deniz Mall stands proudly as a striking example of modern architecture. This shopping and entertainment complex, designed by Chapman Taylor, draws inspiration from the beautiful lotus flower. With an impressive area of ??120,000 square meters and a height of up to 70 meters, including two underground car parks, Deniz Mall offers a diverse and multi-faceted experience along the seven floors.

The mall has shops, cafes, restaurants, a karting area, a cinema, a Kinderland – children’s park, an amusement park, and even a bowling alley. However, the central atrium of Deniz Mall is its most distinctive feature. This unique space revolves around a stunning pool that covers almost the entirety of the 50-meter-high atrium, offering views from every corner of the mall. Examining the specifics, the in-ground round acrylic pool has a diameter of 12 meters and a depth of 6 meters. The concrete bottom of the pool is decorated with beautiful mosaics. These panels were supported by metal frames treated with a state-of-the-art anti-corrosion treatment. Additionally, the pool’s north side features stainless steel water features, stairs, and elegant decorations.

Adding to the grandeur, the actual steel stage in the middle of the pool gets a dramatic makeover, becoming a focal point for spectacular exhibitions or a spectacular 4-meter fountain display, which can accommodate 4-5 people. Once submerged, this platform transforms the pool into a vibrant watersports complex. A purification system for the pool bottom water was done to ensure impeccable cleanliness and breathtaking clarity up to 12 meters.

State-of-the-art technical solutions, including heat pumps and chlorine-free disinfectants, help provide a fully functional experience. Located around the mall’s perimeter, there are fountains within the upper perimeter and contains a unique multifunctional building with direct and dynamic fountains, providing a variety of water-based content.

A distinctive feature of the Complex is the circular water plane, which displays stunning waterscapes on full screens. Supported on rigid steel pipes, these screens are installed at heights of +10m and +27m, with thicknesses of 8m and 4.5m. Surrounding these screens are high-definition LED screens that further enhance the visual experience, displaying all of the still video that fits into the overall show, acting as an animation source and platform for advertising. Lighting plays an important role in creating a unique atmosphere. The project features state-of-the-art “Moving head” projectors, RGB lasers, and LED video projectors that display high-quality images on the liquid screen. The unique viewing experience is complemented by a digital sound system of over 1000 watts. It adds a powerful audio feature to the spectacle and also features an underwater sound subsystem specially designed for synchronized swimming.

On June 1, 2020, Deniz Mall softly opened its doors, ushering in a new era of shopping, leisure, and entertainment in central Baku. Deniz Mall’s design proudly mirrors the distinctive eight-pointed star found in Azerbaijan’s coat of arms. This outstanding project clinched the esteemed “Best Mall” accolade at the 2021 prestigious “Prix Versailles Africa and West Asia” exhibition. Spanning a generous 52,088 m2 in leasing space, the building is a haven for exclusive entertainment centers. It hosts a dazzling array of around 40 globally renowned brands and over 20 international restaurant concepts. This mall isn’t just a shopping destination; it’s a vibrant experience, bringing together the best in entertainment and dining on a grand scale.
