101 West 14th Street is a boutique residential building developed by Gemini Rosemont Development and designed by ODA at the intersection of Greenwich Village, West Village, Union Square, and Chelsea. The condominium, which has been recently finished, consists of 13 stories and offers a total of 44 homes ranging from one to four bedrooms. Whitehall Interiors was responsible for the interior design of these residences, and the building also has 10,000 square feet of amenities.

“Situated at the intersection of two of NYC’s most desirable neighborhoods, Chelsea and Greenwich Village, 101 West 14th Street is significant to 14th Street’s evolution into its own residential corridor,” said Eran Chen, founder and executive director of ODA. “As such, we wanted to ground the intersection with an eye-catching geometric façade that will anchor all future residential development on the street.”

The architectural design of 101 West 14th Street combines modern elements as exemplified by its glass box façade and use of fractal geometry. This design approach effectively generates a perception of lightness, airiness, and depth within the building. The architectural portfolio of ODA is characterized by the inclusion of a geometric façade on the building, which serves as a distinctive feature. This design choice not only anchors the busy corner but also creates a sense of spaciousness for individuals passing by. Just as observed in natural phenomena, the repetition of patterns elicits a calming influence on the human brain.

For the inhabitants, residing at 101 West 14th Street may be likened to experiencing the essence of living within an artistic masterpiece. The architectural design of the building incorporates 18-foot floor-to-ceiling glass walls in its façade, providing occupants with a harmonious integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces. The utilization of triple-paned windows in the architectural design of the building contributes to a heightened perception of stability and tranquility. Simultaneously, the transparent nature of these windows facilitates an enhanced outlook and a more profound affiliation with the urban environment encompassing the residents.

The large glass panels, measuring 18 feet, are produced in the Province of Treviso, located in the Veneto area of Italy. This choice by ODA reflects their dedication to using premium materials in architectural projects. During that period, the installation of these windows necessitated the most extensive hoisting operation in New York City.

In the context of New York City, the assessment of quality of life is based on the measurement of volume rather than floor space. The compact urban environment necessitates smaller design footprints, yet. ODA implemented a vertical approach at 101 West 14th Street to introduce movement and spatial elements into each residence. The use of floor-to-ceiling glass windows makes it possible to design unusual double-height living rooms that receive a lot of natural light.

The intersection of 14th Street and 6th Avenue serves as a nexus between highly sought-after residential and commercial districts within the city. However, it is worth noting that the region has traditionally been characterized by a prevalence of office structures. The address of 101 West 14th Street symbolizes a process of development and progression. The structure functions as a residential focal point for the local community, with its well-designed architecture evoking visual curiosity and positioning itself as a prominent feature of the 14th Street corridor, a significant yet imperceptible junction between the northern and southern parts of Manhattan.
