During PA Talks 62, we had a great conversation with Alper Derinbogaz, the founder of Salon. We talked about his professional journey, architecture’s future, and upcoming projects.
Alper is a professional architect and academic whose focus is on finding ways to promote communal relationships between environment and spatial elements through the use of scientific strategies. He is a recipient of the esteemed Fulbright Scholarship, as well as the graduate award from UCLA, and has been recognized as one of Europe’s “40 under 40”. His research has been featured in various biennales and museums, including the Koolhaas curated Venice Architecture Biennale in 2014.
Alper is known as an innovative architect who challenges conventional thinking. His diverse portfolio ranges from cultural institutions to architectural installations and masterplans. He is also a visiting professor at the Pratt Institute in New York. Alper is a Fulbright Scholar and has won various awards, including the European “40 Under 40”. His research has been showcased in notable events, including the Venice Architecture Biennale, and he was listed as one of the “Top 40 European Architects” by “Platform.”
Recently, Actar Publishers published his collection of projects in the book “Geospaces: Continuities Between Humans, Spaces, and the Earth.” In addition to heading the Salon, he teaches an advanced architecture studio at the Pratt Institute in New York.
