Introduction

GenLogix: Generative Logic and Visualization

Generative design represents a revolutionary approach in architecture, where innovation thrives at the intersection of creativity and computational prowess. This workshop delves deep into the underlying principles of generative design, offering participants a glimpse into the dynamic world where design logic evolves through controlled parameters and iterative processes.

The Scope of the Workshop:

  • Generative Design: exploring the logic behind generative design thinking, exploring different directions and pathways for designers to maintain control over grasshopper parameters and design logic.
  • Animation/Visualization: Showcase and express ideas by mastering animation skills in Grasshopper and Vray, as well as understanding camera motion, animating generative designs, material assignment, and lighting techniques.

Methodology:

The workshop will be divided into two parts:

  • The first part will focus on generative designs and explain their logic and principles. It will be combined with a lecture and demonstration of parametric grasshopper scripts.
  • The second part of the workshop will be an interactive session focusing on Animation and Visualization of the generated outcome. Participants will get hands-on experience in camera motion techniques, material assignment, light manipulation, and motion, fostering a deeper understanding of these concepts.

Objectives

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the underlying principles and logic of generative design thinking.
  • Investigate diverse approaches and pathways for designing generative logic using Kangaroo and Voxels.
  • Acquire animation skills in Grasshopper and Vray to effectively visualize and communicate the power and potential of their designs.
