Here are the winners and honorable mentions of AI Creative Challenge 4.0. Congratulations to all the participants!

1st Place – Mohammad Amin Mostafavi Mousavi

Project Site: Ancient Canyon of Petra, Jordan

Tools Used: Midjourney, Runway ML, Google Gemini

To revive the ancient Canyon of Petra in Jordan and also to protect the main Historical monument of Petra against climatic changes and torrential rains, a steel, wood, and glass roofed structure with a parametric and sustainable architectural approach has been designed for the Canyon and valuable Historical Monuments inside it with respect to the protection of ancient monuments. The main approach of my design according to the request of the competition has been to connect the presented images with each other and adhere to the competition requests.

2nd Place – Marcin Stós

Project Site: The Colosseumn in Rome, Italy

Tool Used: Midjourney, Runway ML

Being European, I chose a Historical Monument site located in Rome – The Colosseum. On the old continent the architects challenges are often about combining old with new. That is present also here. Today the monument only serves tourists and most will visit the Colosseum only once in their lifetime. There is few green spaces in the area so introducing new functions is a great idea. To open the building to the local communities I introduced a variety of functions inside the colosseum, mostly recreational functions like parks and cafes. The structure located inside is smaller and invisible from the outside.

3rd Place – Georges Oueijan

Project Site: Baalbek Temple, Lebanon

Tools Used: Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Runway ML, Krea.ai

As someone deeply rooted in Lebanon, I’m compelled to envision a vibrant future for Baalbek Temple, a timeless symbol of our heritage. Each year, our land plays host to illustrious international festivals, drawing travelers from every corner of the globe. We, the Lebanese, transform this sacred space into a grand theater, adorned with humble plastic chairs and podiums, breathing life into the ancient stones. Notably, there’s abundant unused space, especially between the majestic ruins of Jupiter and Bacchus temples. Here, I propose a visionary intervention—a Roman Futuristic amphitheater, versatile in its design, offering both indoor sanctuaries for intimate gatherings and open-air stages for grand spectacles. respecting the site’s historical typology. My concept is the introduction of a majestic gold metallic structure, The choice of gold color symbolizes the sun and pays homage to the temple’s historical significance as a temple of the sun. This resplendent addition, embellished with new smart material of sustainable photovoltaic gold mirrors, not only pays homage to ancient worship practices but also harnesses the sun’s energy to power our future. The temple grounds shall boast adaptable spaces, ready to host cultural gatherings, captivating performances, and enlightening exhibitions and cultural circulation. the proposed architectural project seeks and preserve the past while embracing the future.

Project Site: The Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens

Tools Used: Midjourney

Inspired by the ancient education hub of the Acropolis, the project reinterprets the Parthenon temple, preserving its original form while dividing the space in half. One side maintains the temple’s integrity, while the other provides a community space for education. By studying on-site, visitors organically explore ancient history while reinterpreting the Parthenon. This innovative approach allows for a dynamic interaction with the past, fostering a deeper understanding of ancient civilizations. The project seamlessly blends historical preservation with modern educational initiatives, offering a unique opportunity for immersive learning and reinterpretation of cultural heritage.

Project Site: Obelisk of Axum

Tools Used: Midjourney, Runway ML, Chat GPT, Krea.ai, Photoshop

The Axumite Empire was a vibrant African civilization that served as a hub for innovation, trade, and cultural exchange for over a millennium. Axum is known for its tall and large monolithic obelisks that were erected as symbols of power and a connection to the afterlife. The obelisk site has recently been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, and a proposal has been made to transform it into a modern African metropolis that celebrates the site’s legacy with interactive multisensory experiences, enchanting gardens, and eco-friendly features.

With integrated sustainable features like shading devices and PV panels, it’s a bold step towards a greener future. Welcome to the 3D Village of Liberty.

Derek Jackson

Project Site: Seahenge, Holme Timber Circle

Tools Used: Midjourney, Runway ML, Krea.ai, Look.X, Photoshop’s Generative Fill

Seahenge Visitor Centre: In 1998, Seahenge was discovered on the Norfolk coast in the UK. The prehistoric man-made ring of timber posts dated back to the early Bronze Age, and was unearthed by the movement of the tides. To much controversy, the timbers were excavated and removed to allow their preservation. This design imagines a replica henge reinstated on site on Holme beach, with an accompanying Visitor Centre supporting the monument. The curved timber and glass form mimics the original ring of oak stumps, with views out to the North Sea and the replica henge alongside.
