OPPO Headquarters

In 2020, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) won first place in a competition to design the OPPO Headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The tower is expected to be completed by 2025.

The design consists of four interconnected towers, which reach a height of 200m (42 floors) and cover an area of 185,000 sqm. The two towers comprise flexible, open-plan spaces linked by a 20-story vertical lobby, while two external service towers provide vertical circulation. The orientation of the towers maximizes views over Shenzhen Bay, and they taper inwards at lower levels to create large civic spaces at street level.

“The abundance of natural light, varied working environments, and the diversity of routes for staff and visitors to move through the building are all conducive to creative engagement and spontaneity,” said Patrik Schumacher, Principal at Zaha Hadid Architects.

The central areas of each floor in the towers are free from obstructions and have external service cores, which allow for uninterrupted views throughout the building and encourage employee interaction. The building features large atrium spaces that foster collaboration between different departments by providing visual connectivity among all occupants. The building is designed to offer abundant natural light, diverse working environments, and multiple routes for staff and visitors to move through the building, which helps promote creativity and spontaneity.

Additionally, the OPPO Headquarters will include a landscaped plaza, art gallery, shops, restaurants, and a direct link to the adjacent station of Shenzhen’s subway network. The 10th-floor Sky Plaza will provide dining, leisure, and entertainment facilities for local residents, visitors, and OPPO employees. At the same time, the rooftop Sky Lab will be a popular public space with spectacular views over one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
