Adobe is also focusing on improving the application’s AI. According to their official announcement, Adobe has recently added, and plans to add several new tools and productive AI features to Illustrator and Photoshop.

“The thing that excites me the most about integrating generative AI into architectural practice is that the technology is becoming a collaborative partner in the design process,” says Professor Emily C.S. Pellicano of Syracuse University School of Architecture.

Thanks to the Firefly Vector 2 AI model, Illustrator is getting notable updates. Firefly also gets new AI features like Generative Shape Fill, which lets users add detailed vectors to shapes via text prompts. In addition to that feature, the updated model also improves Text to Pattern, which can be used to create customized vector patterns.

“I’m an illustrator with a specific style, and generative tools are an incredible way for me to go from mood-boarding to vector form so much faster, saving me a ton of time in the brainstorming process and reallocating that time to actually drawing and creating. When I’m getting started on something, like an aerospace/sci-fi fantasy-type illustration, I usually have a specific shape in mind. I first draw out those shapes manually, and then use Generative Shape Fill to produce some detail ideas inside those shapes, which gives me inspiration and control over everything I’m creating.” said Michael Fugoso, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, and Adobe Evangelist.

The new update also brings the Dimension tool, which automatically adds dimensioning information for projects, and the Mockup feature, which previews how designs will look in 3D products. Here is an example of how to use the mockup feature:

“The new Mockup tool in Illustrator allows you to take your vector artwork and mock it up on virtually any mockup image with a blank surface on the object. It’s a 3-click process, and you also have the ability to make nondestructive edits at any time,” said Fugoso.

Furthermore, Adobe’s latest Firefly Image 3 model is now available in the Photoshop desktop and web applications. The Enhance Detail for Generative Fill feature can now provide greater sharpness and detail when applied to large images.
