The design by Aleatek Studio for the Serbia Pavilion won the competition inspired by “Ratno Ostrvo,” an untouched Natural Park island in the center of Belgrade City. Named the “Floating Forest,” the concept embodies the “Society 5.0” vision of Expo 2025, designed to realize a future where people’s lives and society are optimized by fully implementing innovative technologies such as IoT, AI, and Big Data.

The design of the Serbia Pavilion aims to interpret the culture and natural heritage through architectural expression. It also introduces playful elements, reflecting the upcoming EXPO 2027 under the theme “Play for Humanity” in Belgrade. Aleatek Studio integrated elements such as Game, Play, and Fun, emphasizing them as humans’ source of creativity.

The Pavilion, located at the West Entrance and Earth Plaza, covers 828 square meters. With its large scale and distinctive features, such as the green facade, landscape design, and leisure amenities, it will stand as a focal point. The ground floor has been reorganized to create a spacious and connected area with public facilities, enhancing the green facade next to the main exhibition to showcase the “floating” component. The second floor, the exhibition floor, showcases “Playful Serbia” with interactive and educational content previewing the Belgrade Expo 2027. Visitors will reach the second floor using the elevator or the grand stairs, which provide seating and event space with views.

The Serbia Pavilion also stands out by considering the disassembly system from the early stage. In line with the Design for Sustainability principle, this approach highlights adaptability, disassembly, and recycling. It enhances renewable energy sources from specific environmental, economic, social, and cultural contexts.

Expo 2025 Osaka will take place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 in Japan on the artificial island of Yumeshima, located on the waterfront west of Osaka. Under the theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” this Expo aims to encourage all humans on this planet to think deeper while choosing a way of life and how each of us can contribute to better coexistence.
