Introduction to Reverse Modeling:

Dream to Reality: AI-Powered Architecture explores how artificial intelligence can amplify human creativity, while maintaining precision and design intent.

This hands-on workshop guides participants through a workflow that starts with AI-generated imagery using MidJourney, moves into Rhino SubD modeling, and culminates in Krea visualization.

By combining generative AI with parametric and manual modeling, participants will learn to reverse-engineer AI concepts into buildable, detailed 3D architectural models, bridging the gap between imagination and execution.

Methodology:

The workshop follows a step-by-step, practice-driven approach, emphasizing active learning and iterative feedback:

1. AI Ideation (MidJourney)

  • Participants generate a variety of architectural concepts using AI prompts.
  • Exploration and experimentation are documented via a shared MIRO board, enabling collaborative feedback.

2. Reverse Engineering into 3D (Rhino SubD)

  • AI-generated imagery is analyzed and translated into precise 3D models.
  • Emphasis on SubD modeling techniques to capture organic and complex forms.
  • Continuous feedback is provided through MIRO reviews to refine designs in real time.

3. Visualization & Refinement (Krea)

  • Models are rendered and enhanced using Krea for high-quality architectural visualization.
  • Participants learn to balance AI aesthetics with human design decisions.
  • Iterative review ensures designs evolve with both technical accuracy and creative vision.

The methodology is interactive, blending lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, with constant instructor feedback to guide participants from concept to fully realized 3D visualizations.

Key Learning Topics:

  • Generate and explore architectural concepts using AI-driven imagery.
  • Reverse-engineer AI concepts into detailed 3D models using Rhino SubD.
  • Create high-quality visualizations with Krea, integrating AI and human design thinking.
  • Apply a structured workflow from ideation to execution, blending AI creativity with human precision.
  • Critically evaluate AI outputs and translate them into actionable architectural designs.

Program:

Day 1:

  • Introduction to AI-Powered Design and the Dream to Reality workflow
  • Generate architectural concepts with MidJourney prompts
  • Document and share ideas on a collaborative MIRO board
  • First steps in Rhino SubD modeling to translate AI concepts into 3D

Day 2:

  • Deep dive into Rhino SubD for organic and complex forms
  • Explore sine-curve beam logic and algorithmic geometry generation
  • Render and enhance models using Krea.AI
  • Final design reviews and feedback

Software:

  • Midjourney (Required, paid-membership recommended)
  • Krea (Recommended, free membership with limited credits available)
  • Nano Banana

Workshop Notes:

  • Please ensure you have all the software installed before the workshop starts. Software installation is NOT a part of the workshop.

Instructor:

Cosimo Scotucci

Cosimo Scotucci is a Rotterdam-based architect, artist, and innovator. He works to contribute to a more democratic and resilient world through speculative design, exploring how architecture can reshape ecosystems and societal realities.

Since 2016, he has been a Senior Project Leader and Architect at MVRDV, where he leads projects from concept to execution. His portfolio includes large-scale cultural, residential, and mixed-use developments in China and Taiwan.

Scotucci’s work emphasizes sustainability, adaptive reuse, and the integration of public and cultural programs within dynamic urban contexts, reflecting his vision for thoughtful and future-focused architecture.
