NEOM has unveiled a new skyscraper designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The 330-meter-tall building is located at Trojena ski resort in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM development. The design was presented at the Cityscape Global Conference in Riyadh. The skyscraper is intended to be a symbol for Trojena and will be situated on a mountain overlooking an artificial lake at the city’s centre, located 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba in the mountains of Saudi Arabia. The new crystal-like structure will offer breathtaking views and is set to become an iconic landmark in the region.

The Zaha Hadid Architects-designed tower, named the Discovery Tower, will be located in the Discovery Cluster of Trojena. According to NEOM, “located on the cliff’s edge, the Discovery Cluster features the Cosmic Gate, for gazing up at distant stars, and Discovery Tower, for living in the clouds with 360-degree views around the mountains.”

Discovery Tower, “is an elegant and iconic commercial high-rise tower providing a rich platform for groundbreaking and tech-infused artistic content and experiences. It is accompanied by an open-air museum nestled within the saddle of two mountain peaks.”

The mountain resort will be included in the NEOM megadevelopment. The masterplan was created by the German design firm Lava Architecture, and Zaha Hadid Architects, UNStudio, and Aedas are among the offices collaborating on the project. Trojena anticipates attracting 700,000 visitors and 7,000 permanent residents to the projects and adjacent residential districts by the year 2030.
