Zaha Hadid generally knows for her architectural works and her architectural studio, Zaha Hadid Architects. But Zaha Hadid also owns a design studio called Zaha Hadid Design primarily focuses on product design, and furniture design which lends her sculptural aesthetic to objects.

Liquid Glacial Coffee Table

The Liquid Glacial coffee table embodies the intersection between movement and stillness. Created for David Gill Gallery in 2012. Soft waves and ripples circulate beneath the tabletop’s flat surface, while its legs pour from the horizontal in a stunning vortex of water that appears to be trapped in time. This illusion is heightened by the clear acrylic, which adds depth and complexity through a kaleidoscope display of light and limitless refractions. The end product is a lovely item that picks up colors from its surroundings and reacts to varied perspectives.

While the legs pour from the horizontal in a dramatic frozen vortex like water, gentle waves and ripples pulse beneath the flat surface of the tabletop. Created for David Gill Gallery in 2012. This effect is enhanced by the use of translucent acrylic, which adds depth and complexity through a kaleidoscopic display of light and limitless refractions. As a consequence, the gorgeous item inherits a plethora of hues from its surroundings and constantly adjusts to the shifting views of the spectator. It may also be used as a coffee table.

The Liquid Glacial Table’s flat table top is altered by the gentle waves and ripples visible beneath the surface, which appears to pour into an intense vortex that forms the table legs. This new table, like the previous Liquid Glacial tables, is machined and hand polished to give a beautiful surface. The design incorporates surface complexity and refraction into a flowing dynamic.“I have always been interested in the concept of fluidity,” says Hadid. “Using all the advances in design, material, and manufacturing technologies, we are now able to achieve even greater results in the work.”
