As reported, construction of the “world’s largest tower” has begun in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital city. The megastructure, “The Mukaab”, was announced to be completed by 2030 as part of Saudi’s “New Murabba” futuristic project. A cubicle structure that will stand 1,300 feet high and 1,200 feet wide when completed and will redefine skylines as it is compared to 20 Empire State buildings.

As part of the Arab nation’s continuing futuristic construction, “The Mukaab” was introduced by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman last year for his ambitious Saudi Vision 2030. Per the report, it is placed at the junction of King Salman and King Khalid roads, northwest of Riyadh. The world’s tallest tower project in a two million square of floor space will cater to dining restaurants, retail, office space, and residential floors with 104,000 units.

Builder, The New Murabbla Development Company, shared that “The Mukaab” will also display its grandeur with virtual reality technology on the outer wall. Holographic projection technology powered by Artificial intelligence will also be fitted into its interior to display different realities, times, and places. NMDC also revealed green spaces will be connected for the occupants within 15 minutes from any point of the cube structure.

In addition to the green space accessible and the residential space included for over 100,000 people, it also lays out plans to offer around 9,000 hotel rooms. The builder envisioned a city-in-a-box offering an inviting experience for the visitors with a huge screen outside of the square, similar to the Las Vegas Sphere. Per the plan, space for leisure activities, community facilities, and a swirling tower for observation deck and rooftop dining will also be included.

The company in its statement, that the $50B project was inspired by the regional Najdi architectural design. Najdi is a modern regional architectural design distinguished by a mudbrick building of triangular or rectangular window and door openings with a central outdoor courtyard.

The “Saudi Vision 2030” Project

Per reliable sources, after the completion of “The Mukaab,” $51 billion will added to non-oil GDP, also creating around 334,000 jobs. The mega-project by Bin Salam to modernize the nation and bring a futuristic city, called “Saudi Vision 2030,” has already employed 900 workers and aims to be completed by 2030. The prince has shared through the project his goal is to lower the nation’s dependence on oil revenue by diversifying the country’s economy and expanding the public service sectors.

As part of his Saudi vision, the prince has drawn plan to expand across the peninsula. Hexagon, a floating port city on the Red Sea cost, Trojena, a mountain tourism destination, and NEOM, a futuristic city in the northwest are all laid out as part of his “Saudi Vision 2030” which will be powered solely by renewable energy. The NEOM futuristic city has been reported to transform the economy and reduce its dependence on oil, aiming to create a global powerhouse in innovation.

The Mukaab project and later are creating a wave of innovation and making Saudi’s path to future architecture. An architectural innovation that balances the environment, and future construction, alongside cultural buildings.
