Kengo Kuma & Associates unveils design for Qatar Pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025

Qatar Museums and Kengo Kuma & Associates have collaborated to design the Qatar Pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025. The design of the pavilion is influenced by both Qatari and Japanese cultures, drawing inspiration from shared elements like the strong connection to the sea.

Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al Thani, Deputy Commissioner-General and Chairman of Qatar’s expo preparation committee, said: “Qatar’s participation in the exhibition involves establishing a distinguished, high-level pavilion characterized by its innovative design and state-of-the-art equipment, showcasing the nation’s rich history, vibrant present and promising future across various fields.”

“This endeavor also presents an opportunity to spotlight the country’s developmental milestones, promoting Qatar as both a prime tourism destination and an attractive hub for global businesses and investors across diverse economic sectors,” he added.

Qatar Pavilion for Expo Osaka covers an approximate area of 1,292 square meters. By drawing from Qatar’s traditional dhow boat construction methods and Japan’s wood joinery heritage, the pavilion subtly blends cultural allusions to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The exhibition within the pavilion will spotlight the progress made towards the Qatar National Vision 2030 and present opportunities for investment aimed at economic diversification as outlined in the Third Qatar National Development Strategy 2024-30.
