Brookfield Properties unveils 2 public light installations

Brookfield Properties has unveiled two striking public light installations, including “Glow” at Principal Place and “Trumpet Flowers” at Citypoint. Developed by Sydney-based artist studio Amigo & Amigo, the installations will turn the plazas into immersive experiences where light and sound are to the fore. From 15th October to 6th January, the installations offer office workers and passersby an interactive and playful light show, engaging the public in a dynamic architectural setting.

Interaction mainly defines the installations: “Trumpet Flowers,” consisting of sculptural arrays of towering trumpet-shaped lights, allows viewers to walk through a collage of colorful light structures, some over two meters tall. It is an installation with an original jazz composition by Otis Studio that catches the feeling of a live performance of music. Even audience members can contribute by pushing buttons to “play” the trumpets, mixing their input with the rhythm of the installation. The same way, “Glow” at Principal Place is a series of touch-sensitive spherical light posts. The pressed parts create a very particular sound, turning the whole sculpture into a huge interactive musical instrument.

Activating Public Spaces

Saff Williams, Curatorial Director at Brookfield Properties, said: “‘Trumpet Flowers’ and ‘Glow’ are the perfect antidote to the winter blues. These installations are designed to be interactive, transforming how we experience the City. They bring vibrant colour and harmony to our public spaces and invite viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the city in new and exciting ways. Accessible public art is a vital means of fostering creativity and community engagement. As the days get shorter, these playful installations offer just the right touch of joy and inspiration. Come and experience them for yourself!”

Simone Chua, Director at Amigo & Amigo, said: “We are thrilled to debut ‘Trumpet Flowers’ and ‘Glow’ in the heart of London. Both pieces celebrate the power of community, music, and art. Nature and music are constant inspirations for us, and through these installations, we hope to bring people together, fostering connection and joy in public spaces. It is our passion to create works that reclaim these urban environments and offer moments of delight to all who experience them.”

These light installations form part of Brookfield Properties’ wider commitment to activating public spaces through art and culture. Their Activated program strengthens the urban experience, including free-to-access exhibitions and performances, which enhance community engagement and well-being. By placing works within architectural contexts, Brookfield continues to raise the everyday urban environment into a platform of cultural interaction and public participation.
