Wolf Ranch Community

ICON has been working to construct the largest 3D printed neighborhood in the world, which includes 100 houses in the state of Texas in the United States. This project began in November 2022 and is now in its final stages.

Wolf Ranch Community was built by ICON and Lennar and co-designed by BIG. ICON is printing the homes for the community using its massive Vulcan 3D printer, which is 13.7 meters wide and weighs 4.75 tons.

Some residents have already started moving into their new homes, and more than a quarter of the homes have been sold. ICON’s 3D printer utilizes a mixture of concrete powder, water, sand, and other materials.

“It brings a lot of efficiency to the trade market,” ICON senior project manager Conner Jenkins told Reuters. “So, where there were maybe five different crews coming in to build a wall system, we now have one crew and one robot.”

The construction of each single-story, three—to four-bedroom home reportedly takes about three weeks to complete. Also, houses cost from 450,000 to 600,000 U.S. dollars.
