Riyadh will be home to the proposed Sports Boulevard

The proposed extensive linear park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is called Sports Boulevard. It was initiated in 2019 as part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. It spans 135 km, linking Wadi Hanifa in the west to Wadi Al-Sulai in the east via Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road. The park comprises 8 distinct districts: Wadi Hanifah, Arts, Wadi Alyasen, Entertainment, Athletics, Sand Sports Park, Eco, and Wadi Al-Sulai.

The Hanifah Valley Zone, which stretches 30 km from Al-Olab Dam in Historical Diyriah to Al Madina Al-Monawara Road, will primarily cater to professional and amateur cyclists. It will also feature green pathways for pedestrians and horse riders, incorporating 13 stops along the valley route for a bike maintenance center, various coffee shops, and retail outlets.

The Art Zone will stretch 3 km from King Khalid Road and will include cultural, art, and recreational facilities, along with pedestrian, cycling, and horse-riding paths, as well as sitting areas. Additionally, it will house museums, libraries, studios, art forums, conference halls, and areas designated for investment.

The Al-Yasen Zone will extend 3.5 km along Al-Yasen valley, from Suwaid bin Harthah Road to King Fahad Road, and will feature pedestrian pathways, bike paths, and potential investment areas, along with a water canal.

The Recreational Zone, spanning 4 km between King Fahd Road and Othman bin Affan Road, will showcase numerous parks, gardens, and open spaces with a cooling system for the summer season. It will also include a 40-kilometer viaduct for professional cyclists, along with events sites, theaters, cinemas, complexes, and outdoor movie theaters.

The Sports Zone plans to include The Sport Tower, a high rise building with courts and training halls for both men and women, in addition to a Velodrome in the lower floors.

The Environmental Zone will extend for 14 km from Airport Road to Al-Janadriyah Road, featuring tracks for pedestrians and joggers, an elevated route for professional cyclists, and an at-grade route for amateurs.

The Al Sulai Valley Zone, spanning 53 km along Wadi AS-Sail, will provide routes for professional cycling, horse riding, and green pedestrian pathways. It will also feature various coffee shops, retail outlets, a bike maintenance center, and picnic and camping areas along the valley.

The Sand Dunes Part Zone will be situated in the sandy areas covering 20,000 square kilometers and will include a distinctive landmark—a curved cycling track in the shape of a flower, gradually rising 50 meters above the ground, offering cyclists a captivating view from the top.

Additionally, it will house a one-million-square-meter equestrian center and horse-riding trails, as well as a five-square-kilometer zoo. The zone will comprise professional cycling paths, a visitor center, a rural resort, rest areas, and different residential facilities.
