MASK Architects demonstrates its conceptual design for Project Tavolara-100, a 100-foot (30.5-meter) Fast Cruising Sloop that aims to set new standards in the realm of luxury performance yachting. This bold and technically advanced vision emerges from a high-profile competitive commission by one of the world’s foremost luxury and sport sailing yacht brands, based near Udine, Italy.

Designed as the most refined yacht ever visualized for the client, Project Tavolara-100 is a response to the bespoke demands and unique vision of a highly discerning owner. The design represents MASK Architects’ commitment to crafting a vessel that fuses speed, engineering, and elegance in one strikingly realized form.

Oznur Pinar Cer and Danilo Petta, founders of MASK Architects, shared their design intent: “Project Tavolara-100 represents a rare opportunity to explore the outer limits of yacht design,” said Cer and Petta. “We aim to create a seamless fusion of aerodynamic performance, advanced materials, and refined aesthetics. Every decision from the hull to the interiors reflects our ambition to produce not only a triumph of engineering but a floating work of art that transforms the sailing experience.”

Project Tavolara-100: A Fusion of Speed, Luxury, and Technical Excellence

Envisioned as a high-performance monohull, Tavolara-100 is engineered for both exhilarating speed and superior onboard comfort. The project underscores MASK Architects’ ongoing pursuit of innovation and mastery in modern yacht design.

Hull & Construction

At the core of Tavolara-100’s performance is its advanced hull, crafted from carbon fiber composite in a sandwich construction, featuring either a foam or balsa core. This combination delivers maximum structural integrity while maintaining an exceptionally lightweight profile, which is key to meeting the demands of a fast cruiser. The build process will utilize VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding) or an autoclave system with epoxy resin infusion, ensuring optimal fiber impregnation and a flawless, monocoque structure of unmatched strength and precision.

Rigging & Sail Plan

The sloop’s rigging is designed for precision and minimal weight. A High Modulus Carbon mast reduces weight aloft, enhancing stability and performance. The sail plan incorporates North Sails’ state-of-the-art 3Di sails, crafted with Dyneema and carbon fibers for structural integrity and optimal aerodynamic shaping. Strategic use of Technora fiber further reinforces durability without sacrificing weight, creating a rig optimized for long-distance performance cruising.

Deck & Interior Design

On deck, a contemporary reinterpretation of classic elegance takes form through seamless natural teak laid over a composite sandwich base. Internally, the emphasis is on lightweight luxury. The interiors will feature composite panels, honeycomb-core materials, and lightened fine woods, all integrated with carbon fiber detailing. The result is a refined, high-tech living environment that reflects both sophistication and performance awareness.

Advanced Onboard Systems

Tavolara-100 will feature cutting-edge systems designed to elevate both usability and autonomy. Semi-automated sail handling through electric or hydraulic winches reduces manual effort and allows for highly responsive maneuvering. The yacht will also integrate a comprehensive home automation system, providing centralized or remote control over lighting, climate, and electronics. Power will be delivered through a next-generation hybrid propulsion system, enhanced by energy regeneration technology while under sail, balancing high performance with environmental responsibility.

Every aspect of Project Tavolara-100, from materials and systems to layout and design direction, has been meticulously selected to represent a new paradigm in modern sailing design.
