Long March Museum embraces the concept of the "Red Ribbon on the Earth"

Long March Museum is an immersive digital arts space designed by China IPPR International Engineering Co., Ltd. and will be situated in Guiyang, China. Completed in 2023, it is a 53,000 sqm museum providing a contemporary interpretation of the historical Long March, where architecture merges with performance art. Referred to as “The Red Ribbon,” the museum houses six themed performance spaces and introduces advanced technology to tell the story.

The architectural design of Long March Cultural Digital Art Museum follows the “Red Ribbon on the Earth” concept by using the natural altitude of the site to mask the enormous volume of the building under two striking red ribbons, symbolic of the importance of the Long March.

These appear to merge with the mountainous surroundings and ensure that this large structure does not harm the nature around it. This approach to symbolic integration reflects the historical importance of the Long March while maintaining a modern, sleek aesthetic.

Innovative Design and Immersive Experiences

Long March Museum embraces the concept of the "Red Ribbon on the Earth"

It consists of the Star and Fire Plaza: the immersive entry node is surrounded by towering walls, with a great star-shaped torch in its heart. This space initiates them into a dynamic journey, moving from the quiet, small passage to the dramatic plaza. With innovative parametric design and a range of advanced materials, the red ribbons seem to change color with changes in natural light, thus creating an ever-changing ambiance.

Internally, the museum’s digital performance spaces, including mechanical theaters and interactive cinemas, present the story of the Long March to audiences in ways that are both new and engaging.
