Frank Lloyd Wright's only-designed tower now on sale

The Price Tower is 19 stories and 67 meters tall, located on Dewey Avenue in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. It was designed in 1952 by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1956. Harold Price commissioned the Price Tower, Wright’s only realized skyscraper. For this project, Wright collaborated with Bruce Goff, who was then Dean of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s only-designed tower is currently available for interested parties, with a starting bid of $600,000. According to the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, an online auction will be held from October 7 to October 9, 2024.

At first, Wright described the Price Tower as “the tree that escaped the crowded forest.” The structure is irregular in shape and, similar to a tree, presents a different appearance from each perspective.

The materials used for the Price Tower are equally pioneering for a skyscraper from the middle of the twentieth century: molded concrete walls, colored concrete floors, windows, and doors with aluminum trim, and oxidized, embossed, and weathered copper panels.

The building’s multi-use plan includes office spaces, a restaurant, a museum, and a store. The Inn at Price Tower is also a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Here are 7 Frank Lloyd Wright houses for sale in August 2024.
