Royal Art Complex

The Royal Art Complex is currently being built by the King Salman Park Foundation in Riyadh. The complex is designed by Ricardo Bofill and will cover an area of over 500,000 sqm. It will comprise a Museum of World Cultures, a National Theater, and a Royal Institute of Traditional Arts.

King Salman Park is expected to become the world’s largest urban park, spanning an area of more than 16 square kilometers. The National Theater will have a capacity of 2300 as part of the project. The Institute will consist of three academies: The Academy of Traditional Visual Arts, the Academy of Cultural Heritage and Restoration, and the Academy of Theatrical Arts.

The Royal Art Complex will include a cultural cinema complex that will host both local and international events. It will also feature a sculpture and artwork pavilion as well as a library that specializes in culture and arts. The complex will house a dome-shaped area that will showcase artistic talent and host cultural events. The planned library will have over 500,000 books that specialize in arts and culture.

The development of King Salman Park is aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and its ‘quality of life’ pillar. Omrania was appointed as the lead design consultant for the project and worked in partnership with Henning Larsen Architects to create the master plan.
