For Brighton College in Ho Chi Minh City, gmp (architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners) won a competition. The first Brighton College International School in Vietnam opened its doors in 2023 in Hanoi. Currently, gmp is developing plans for its second branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Brighton College’s design incorporates a variety of open interior and outdoor spaces that offer diverse settings for the students’ cooperative sports and artistic endeavors, all in line with the school’s pedagogical idea.

The high-density urban development project Vinhomes Grand Park, which lies northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, is where the new school will be situated. There are roughly 1,900 students enrolled in the school’s prep and senior schools. The performing arts structure will have a 500-seat theater and studios for dance, drama, and music on the upper stories.

Located in the basement along the center axis is the indoor swimming pool. This ensemble, which will be utilized by all age groups, is flanked by the two school buildings, forming a common schoolyard with entrances in the middle. Both school buildings’ room schedules allow for the accommodation of different conceptions of use. The two buildings are supported at ground level by arcades that are 6 meters high.

The design for Brighton College by gmp Architects ensures architectural cohesion across the campus with its use of arcades, circular atriums, and open roof gardens.
