Angel Store by STIPFOLD: A Sculptural Bridal Showroom in Batumi

Batumi’s most renowned bridal showroom has been transformed into a sculptural installation. Commissioned with the request for something radically distinct, the project embraces STIPFOLD’s signature spatial language: expressive, immersive, and formally precise.

A seamless shell of fiber concrete (GRC) flows from interior to exterior, blurring the boundary between architecture and urban stage. Its inflated, continuous surface eliminates sharp edges and wraps the store like a soft exoskeleton. The muted clay-beige tone was chosen to elevate the gowns, casting them as focal points against an almost museum-like backdrop.

Parametric logic drives the entire composition. Complex geometries were digitally refined into repeatable modules to reduce fabrication costs while retaining sculptural intensity. This adaptive approach enabled a bold vision without exceeding the budget.

At the heart of the main hall, a central column becomes a ceremonial installation. Four mannequins encircle it, each lit by a glowing halo, forming a dramatic focal point visible from the street. The remaining 400 dresses are hidden behind integrated curtains, preserving spatial clarity and allowing selective, intentional interaction.

The dressing room was envisioned as a cinematic space of transformation. Clad in deep pink tones and textured fabric, it includes a circular stone platform framed by mirrors from three sides. A pink Moooi armchair anchors the viewing area, designed for guests who share the moment.

Every element, including lighting, HVAC, circulation, and form, is seamlessly absorbed into the architecture. The result is not just a store but a spatial memory. One that invites passersby to pause, enter, and experience the emotional arc of a life-defining choice.
