Saudi Arabia’s five proposed host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2034 are Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. As part of this bid, they unveiled a design for its new NEOM Stadium, located on The Line. The stadium was announced as part of Saudi Arabia’s official World Cup bid submission, and along with this project, 15 stadiums will be used during the games.
“One reason for this wholehearted support for the bid is that hosting the FIFA World Cup 2034 will help realize a national dream. It would be a showcase for a rapidly transforming country focused on creating a more equitable and sustainable future for everyone,” said Crown Prince, Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
“This new stadium (NEOM) will be the most unique in the world. With a pitch situated more than 350 meters above ground and a roof created from the city itself, the stadium will be an experience like no other. After the tournament, it will be home to a professional football club and the centerpiece of the city’s sporting and active lifestyle program,” the Saudi Arabia 2034 bid for NEOM Stadium stated.
NEOM Stadium will have a capacity of 46.010 people. Like NEOM’s vision, the stadium also has many high-segment technological additions, “It will leverage the most advanced technology for players, spectators, and broadcasters (e-ticket gates, 4K Ultra HD broadcasting, etc.).”
The proposal includes three sites: stadiums, FIFA fan festival sites, and Marina Steps. In addition to the NEOM Stadium, the Marina Steps will offer spectacular views of the Chandelier. The Marina, which is the oceanside harbor entrance to The Line, is situated near key landmarks such as the Chandelier and the Cruise Terminal.
Construction is planned to start in 2027 and be completed in 2032. It will be the Quarter-final stadium during the World Cup 2034.
