Introduction to AI-Driven Architectural Design – Innovative Workflows:
In the fast-changing field of architecture, incorporating AI tools during design has become inevitable. New applications of these tools are being discovered and experimented with daily, becoming a new norm in the profession. This workshop aims to empower architects by enabling AI to be one of their valuable assistants throughout design development. This workshop will take participants on a journey of learning how to successfully integrate and work with artificial intelligence tools to speed up their daily design methods.
The focus will be on the collaborative side of AI, illustrating how these tools can be effortlessly incorporated into personal design workflows, whether in the early ideation stage or during design development, to visualize and express materiality & atmosphere. This workshop will help you determine how these technologies can boost architects’ creativity and streamline architectural design methods.

The scope of the workshop:
This workshop will teach participants the practical application of AI tools in the architectural design process. We will start with the latest AI technologies, concepts, and applications. Showcasing tools like Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Comfy UI, Runway, and Luma AI. We will demonstrate architecture-focused approaches and shortcut methods in each tool. This workshop includes techniques for effective prompting, image-to-image methods like transforming sketches and 3D models into detailed renders, and image-to-video animation.

Methodology:
Our two-day workshop will take a hands-on approach, allowing space and opportunity for participants to work both independently and collaboratively on the seamless applications of AI-driven workflows into the design process. It will begin with a comprehensive lecture on all the available AI tools. Setting the foundation for practical application. Then, we will continue with the demonstrations of various workflows.
Participants will engage in various AI methodologies, developing practical skills and confidence in using and experimenting with the tools. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to implement these techniques effectively in their architectural design practices.

Objectives:
- Gain a solid understanding of AI’s capabilities in the architectural design process
- Develop new techniques to implement AI-driven tools into design practices
- Become capable of creating and customizing new workflows
- Enhance creativity and productivity through the effective use of AI
- Integrate AI tools into design projects seamlessly

Program:
Day 1:
- Text-to-Architecture Lecture
- AI in Architecture Lecture + Examples from the Practice
- Midjourney Tools Features & Prompting Techniques
- Magnific – Relight / Upscale / Style Relight
- Runway Gen2 + Gen3 / image-to-video
- Luma AI – image-to-video
- Q&A
Day 2:
- Comfy UI Workflows :
Comfy UI Workflows :
Rhino 3D to Render (Including ControlNet, IPAdapter, SD Upscale)
Sketch to Render
Inpainting / Segmentation
IC Light (modifications in the light condition of the renderings)
Lora Stacking
Multi ControlNet
- Krea AI real-time rendering from Rhino 3D
- ChatGPT – custom GPT tools for architects (including prompting, material boards, and captioning)
- Q&A
Software:
- Midjourney (Standard subscription required)
- Stable Diffusion and ControlNet (How to install SD and ControlNet). In the alternative, participants can use Stable Diffusion on a server relying on RunDiffusion, a platform focused on the Stable Diffusion model. It charges based on server rental time and the number of models used (it supports ControlNet).
- ComfyUI Installation Guide (Recommended)
- KREA (Free Registration recommended)
- Magnific Ai (Don’t subscribe until you are sure you will use it)
- RunwayML(Free Registration recommended)
- Luma AI
Software Installation is NOT a part of the workshop! Students must have all the software installed before starting the workshop.
