Tomorrowland, the iconic electronic dance music festival from Belgium, is making its first-ever appearance in Asia with two major launches. First, “The Magic of Tomorrowland”, an immersive indoor event in Shanghai on November 22, 2025, followed by a full-scale festival in Chonburi, Thailand, planned for December 2026.

Shanghai’s Indoor Innovation: “The Magic of Tomorrowland”

Tomorrowland is partnering with Hero Esports, INS Land, and Budweiser to create an immersive, indoor show at Shanghai’s iconic Bund waterfront, hosted in the Hero Dome. Under the theme “Paperworld”, the event will blend spectacular visuals, multi-sensory storytelling, and exclusive DJ sets, including China-first performances from international artists and select local talents.

Organizers emphasize that this is another concert and a theatrical experience combining Tomorrowland’s signature stage design with cutting-edge indoor production, offering intensity and intimacy year-round.

Thailand 2026: Full-Fledged Tomorrowland Festival

The next milestone is a sprawling edition of Tomorrowland in Chonburi, Thailand, set for December 2026. This marks Asia’s first full-scale festival modeled on Tomorrowland Belgium’s immersive format, multiple stages, themed villages, VIP packages, and travel experiences.

Why Chonburi?

Chonburi, roughly an hour from Bangkok, sits near three international airports (U‑Tapao, Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang) and offers coastal land ideal for venue development. The region’s mix of luxury resorts, boutique hotels, and transport infrastructure supports projected visitor numbers into the hundreds of thousands.

Massive Investment and Long-Term Deal

Thailand’s Tourism Authority (TAT), in partnership with private investors and Tomorrowland’s Belgian organizers, will inject several billion baht, with an annual festival budget estimated at around USD 10 million. The agreement spans a minimum of five years, ensuring a sustainable cultural and economic impact.

Building Lasting Impact: Culture, Skills, and Tourism

Beyond entertainment, Thailand views Tomorrowland as a strategic asset. The event aims to:

  • Showcase Thai creativity through cultural design, culinary offerings, local artists, and vendors woven into the festival.
  • Strengthen tourism diversification after COVID, targeting high-spending travelers and reducing dependency on traditional market segments.
  • Launch a Tomorrowland Academy, training Thai professionals in event management, audio-visual production, and festival operations, raising standards across the sector.

What It Means for Asia’s Music Tourism

Tomorrowland’s in the Asia-Pacific region, after launching satellite editions in Brazil and the U.S., and indoor events in France, China, and now Thailand, the brand repositions Chonburi alongside Boom, Brazil, and Colorado on its global festival map.

Attendees in Asia will no longer need to travel to Europe for the flagship experience. Instead, they’ll encounter high-end production, cultural immersion, and extended tourism offerings all under a single, meticulously designed festival umbrella.

With “The Magic of Tomorrowland” debuting in Shanghai on November 22, 2025, festival-goers get a taste of Tomorrowland’s immersive world. Then, in December 2026, Thailand will host the first complete Asian edition in Chonburi, backed by strong government support, billion-baht investments, and a multi-year deal.

This dual move signals a new era: Asia becoming the next frontier for global EDM culture, tourism innovation, and creative exchange.
