Shigeru Ban has designed the Infinite Maldives resort, which will span over 5 hectares of land and feature a total of 44 villas – both overwater and beachfront – located on Male Atoll 1 Island.
The villas will be built around four beautiful landscaped gardens, designed by landscape architect Michel Desvigne. Desvigne has drawn inspiration from Sri Lankan gardens, such as Geoffrey Bawa’s Lunuganga, to create these unique and visually stunning gardens.
“What makes Infinite Maldives unique is that the resort blends in with the sea and the green nature in an ‘infinite’ manner. Conventional resort design usually starts by designing and arranging buildings first and placing water features and vegetation after, using the spaces left between the buildings.” said Shigeru Ban.
