“The right angle is an invention of man.”
Quetzalcóatl Park has repeated versions of this idea for decades. In his view, nature rarely draws straight lines, and the human body itself was never meant to live inside a succession of boxes. That single conviction sits at the center of Quetzalcóatl Park, the sprawling organic landscape he has been shaping since 2007 on the edge of Naucalpan, about an hour from Mexico City.

The park is still unfinished and open only through a guided reservation. What visitors encounter is not a polished tourist attraction but a slow, deliberate experiment in letting architecture grow from the land rather than impose itself upon it.
The Serpent That Houses People

Beside the park lies Nido de Quetzalcóatl, the residential complex finished around 2007. Ten apartments occupy the long, iridescent body of a serpent that twists across the irregular ravine. The exterior is ferrocement finished in shifting greens, violets, and blues that recall the plumage of the quetzal. Round portholes act as windows. The head forms an entrance; the tail holds service spaces.
Only a small percentage of the structure touches the ground. The rest appears to emerge from or float above the oak-filled terrain. Senosiain has noted that the snake form arrived almost as a consequence of arranging the apartments to fit the existing contours and the one stable cave that could be retained. The shape followed the site.
Living inside continuous curves rather than right angles changes daily movement. Transitions soften. Corners disappear. The architecture quietly insists that comfort begins with forms closer to the body and to the natural world.
How Ferrocement Makes the Curves Possible

Senosiain’s preferred construction method is ferrocement. A skeleton of steel rods is bent into the desired profile, then wrapped in wire mesh. Mortar is applied by hand or machine until a thin, continuous shell hardens. Double curvature supplies the structural strength.
This technique allows walls to melt into floors and ceilings to continue the same unbroken line. In the park, it produces snake-head fountains, winding retaining walls, and small inhabitable mounds set into grassy slopes. Surfaces receive volcanic rock from southern Mexico or trencadís-style mosaics that fracture light into color.

The process is labor-intensive and slow. It also permits constant adjustment on site. Much of the Quetzalcóatl Park was designed while standing on the ground rather than only at a drawing board. The result feels less like an imposed master plan and more like an ongoing negotiation with topography.
Quetzalcóatl Park: Three Kingdoms and a Greenhouse of Color
The Quetzalcóatl Park is organized around three realms: mineral, plant, and animal. The mineral zone includes a cavernous display of stones. The plant kingdom centers on a spiral greenhouse whose stained-glass roof casts shifting teal, red, yellow, and blue light across vegetation and a small central pool. Pathways rise and fold, sometimes forming grassy amphitheaters that seem shaped by the hillside itself.
Rainwater is collected in three pools. A desert garden holds cacti from different regions of Mexico. Mosaic serpents appear as fountains, walls, and even topiary. One cream-colored snake spills water into a reserve. Another rises from the grass with two fangs.
Few public landscapes deliberately invite a visitor to lose a sense of direction. Here the routes curve and double back so that each turn reveals a new texture or intensity of color. The experience is meant to slow the body and reopen the senses.
An Architecture That Refuses to Finish

Senosiain has spoken of the need to remember that humans originate from a natural source. He sees much of modern building as a sequence of boxes that separate people from their biological roots. Quetzalcóatl Park is his long counter-argument, carried forward year after year.
The project continues to evolve. Vegetation grows and shifts. New elements appear. There is no fixed opening date racing toward a final photograph. The Quetzalcóatl Park moves at the pace of the land and the hands that still shape it. Guided walks last a little over two hours and follow uneven ground. The limit on numbers is intentional. The place remains delicate.

What stays with visitors is not one spectacular object but the cumulative effect of curve, color, sound, and shade. The architecture does not stand apart from the trees and the ravine. It grows out of them, carrying the old story of the feathered serpent into a contemporary landscape that is still becoming itself.
The serpent keeps moving. The park keeps listening.
