In PA Talks 70, we caught up with the one and only architect Ben van Berkel at UNStudio’s headquarters in Amsterdam. Our conversation took us through his architectural journey, revealing the inspirations and influences that shaped his path while also exploring some of UNStudio’s most groundbreaking projects.
We didn’t hold back, diving deep into the role of tech and AI in reshaping architecture, and even played with the idea of the Hardt Hyperloop revolutionizing travel. We also asked the big questions about architecture ethics—spoiler alert: it’s more complicated than you think—and how urbanism is being reinvented for the future. Oh, and social media? Turns out, it’s one of Ben’s secret weapons for staying connected in this fast-paced, ever-evolving world.
As we wrapped up, Ben offered up some seriously wise (and refreshingly candid) advice for the next generation of architects. Let’s just say it’s not your average pep talk; it’s a call to think big, bold, and outside the box.
