The race to make artificial intelligence more personal has found a new form factor. Meta has unveiled its new range of Meta AI Glasses, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear giant behind brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley. Starting at $299, the launch signals Meta’s ambition to move AI beyond smartphones and screens, bringing it into a wearable product that can be used throughout the day.

The launch reflects a growing industry belief that smart eyewear could become one of the primary interfaces for interacting with artificial intelligence. With new frame styles, built-in AI capabilities, and even celebrity-powered voice experiences, Meta is positioning its glasses as a consumer technology product that sits at the intersection of design, fashion, and AI.

From Smart Eyewear to an Everyday AI Companion

Meta has repeatedly identified glasses as one of the most promising hardware categories for the AI era. Unlike smartphones, which require users to actively engage with a screen, smart glasses are designed to keep technology accessible while remaining largely invisible in everyday life.

The new Meta AI Glasses feature voice-based interactions, hands-free access to Meta AI, contextual assistance, and integrated audio capabilities. Users can ask questions, receive information, interact with AI, and access digital services without reaching for a phone.

The launch also highlights Meta’s vision of ambient computing technology that remains present in the background and responds naturally when needed. In this model, eyewear becomes more than an accessory; it becomes an intelligent interface.

A Stronger Focus on Design and Personal Style

One of the most notable aspects of the launch is its emphasis on design. While earlier smart glasses often prioritized technology over appearance, the new Meta AI Glasses place aesthetics at the center of the product strategy.

The collection introduces several frame styles, including:

  • Skyler Cat Eye
  • Headliner
  • Wayfarer
  • Rectangular frames
  • Slim oval-inspired designs

The range is available in multiple colorways and lens options, including prescription lenses, transition lenses, polarized lenses, and sun lenses. By expanding the design language beyond a single iconic frame, Meta appears to be targeting a broader audience and encouraging smart glasses to be viewed as everyday eyewear.

For years, wearable technology struggled to balance functionality and aesthetics. Through its partnership with EssilorLuxottica, Meta is attempting to solve that challenge by combining AI capabilities with the expertise of one of the world’s largest eyewear manufacturers.

Kylie Jenner’s Voice Highlights a New Direction for AI

Among the more unexpected additions is the introduction of celebrity AI voices. Meta has incorporated voice options inspired by well-known personalities, including Kylie Jenner, allowing users to interact with AI through more familiar and personalized voice experiences.

While the feature may initially appear promotional, it signals a broader shift in how technology companies are approaching AI products. Companies are increasingly emphasizing personality, familiarity, and emotional connection.

The move reflects a wider trend in AI development, where voice, identity, and human-like interaction are becoming key elements of the user experience.

Meta AI Glasses Launch at $299

Perhaps the most significant product decision is pricing. Starting at $299, the Meta AI Glasses enter the market at a lower price point than many premium smart eyewear products.

The pricing strategy suggests Meta is focused on scaling adoption. By reducing the cost barrier, the company aims to bring wearable AI to a larger consumer audience and establish smart glasses as a mainstream category.

The approach mirrors strategies previously used in the smartphone and smart speaker markets, where widespread adoption helped accelerate ecosystem growth.

Building on a Growing Smart Eyewear Market

The launch comes at a time when competition in wearable computing is intensifying. Major technology companies are exploring alternatives to smartphone-centric experiences, with smart glasses increasingly viewed as one of the most viable next-generation hardware platforms.

Meta already holds a significant position in the smart eyewear market through its previous collaborations with Ray-Ban. The introduction of a dedicated Meta-branded collection expands the company’s ambitions beyond a single fashion partnership and into a broader product ecosystem.

Meta AI Glasses

The new Meta AI Glasses, therefore, represent more than a hardware update. They are part of Meta’s long-term effort to establish eyewear as a primary gateway to AI-powered experiences.

The Future of Wearable Intelligence

The introduction of Meta AI Glasses highlights a broader shift in consumer technology. The conversation is no longer focused solely on processors, displays, or smartphone ecosystems. Instead, attention is turning toward how artificial intelligence can be integrated into products people already wear and use every day.

If smartphones defined the mobile era, smart eyewear could become one of the defining products of the AI era. With new frame designs, personalized AI interactions, a lower entry price, and a stronger emphasis on everyday usability, Meta AI Glasses offer a glimpse into how technology companies are reimagining the relationship between people, artificial intelligence, and wearable design.
