Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) is progressing its design for OPPO’s new 185,000 m² headquarters in Shenzhen, China, a vertical campus set to redefine workspace and civic space in the city.

The headquarters is formed by four interconnected towers rising to approximately 200 meters (42 floors), organized around a central vertical lobby that extends through 20 storeys. Two of the towers accommodate flexible office floors, while the remaining pair function as vertical circulation and service cores. The design achieves large, column-free floorplates that allow uninterrupted views across Shenzhen Bay and deep penetration of natural light.

At ground level, the towers taper inward, creating a generous public realm that opens the campus to the city. A landscaped plaza and a diagonal pedestrian route cut through the site, connecting surrounding streets and providing direct access to the adjacent subway station. Retail spaces, restaurants, and an art gallery are integrated into the lower levels, reinforcing the building’s role as a publicly engaged urban destination.

The headquarters is designed as a connected workplace environment. Multi-storey atriums link departments vertically, encouraging informal meetings and collaboration. Circulation routes are varied and layered, reducing reliance on traditional corridors and reinforcing the sense of movement through the building. The 20-storey vertical lobby acts as the project’s social and spatial spine, visually connecting the towers.

More elevated, shared amenities extend beyond standard office functions. A Sky Plaza on the 10th floor provides dining and leisure facilities for employees and visitors, while a rooftop Sky Lab offers panoramic views of Shenzhen’s skyline, positioning the headquarters as both a workplace and a gathering space.

The project is targeting LEED Gold certification, supported by high-performance façades, integrated energy-management systems, and advanced 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) to optimize construction efficiency and long-term operation. The tower configuration also improves natural ventilation and daylight access, reducing energy demand across the campus.

Founded in 2008, OPPO has grown into one of China’s leading smartphone manufacturers, with a global presence in over 40 countries. Once complete, the Zaha Hadid–designed OPPO headquarters will stand as a new architectural milestone in Shenzhen, redefining the corporate campus as a vertical, connected, and civic-minded workplace.
