Rate the new Louis Vuitton Store in Osaka, from 1-

Rate the new Louis Vuitton Store in Osaka, from 1-10? Louis Vuitton celebrates the grand opening of Maison Osaka Midosuji, the largest flagship store in Japan. This new four-floor store reflects Osaka’s heritage as Japan’s most important port and highlight’s the city’s growing role as an international travel hub. “Imagine a light and airy white structure inspired by the traditional Higaki-Kaisen cargo ship and its billowing sails” says the architect Jun Aoki. The project seems to float on water with metal frameworks motifs used on the ground level.

The project said to be a poetic homage to the minimalism of Japanese craftsmanship, holding a bespoke sculpture that "ribbons across the store’s windows" by artist @kentacobayashi blurring lines between digital fantasy and reality. @petermarinoarchitect shared the same design approach, connecting the store to the maritime world and to the Japanese traditional culture.

Rate the design from 1-10? The amazing rotating facade of Oodi Helsinki Central Library by @ala_architects in 📍#helsinki #finland .

Oodi occupies a hugely significant site in central Helsinki: facing the steps of the Finnish parliament building, the Eduskuntatalo across the Kansalaistori square, a public space flanked by major civic institutions.

The siting of Oodi opposite the Eduskuntatalo was chosen to be symbolic of the relationship between the government and the populace, and act as a reminder of the Finnish Library Act’s mandate for libraries to promote lifelong learning, active citizenship, democracy and freedom of expression. It also places the new library in the heart of Helsinki’s cultural district, close to many of the capital’s great institutions.

Rate this building from 1-10? Designed by @krisyao.artech, the fluid forms of Southern Branch of #Taiwan Palace Museum is inspired by Chinese calligraphy strokes.

Composed of three distinct fluid forms, each represents inspiration from the three Chinese calligraphy strokes: the thick ink, the half-dry and the smearing, the Palace Museum Southern Branch will present itself as an ink-dark, sensuous sculptural form sitting within the surrounding green rice and sugar cane fields.

Spain based architect @abdulrahman_ali_alharib creates Morpho-Genetic Structure by using advanced computational design techniques.

Description by architect: Morpho-Genetic Structure utilizes restrictive iterations of an algorithmic set of parameters, whereby natural organisms and their natural morphological behaviors are used as precedents, establishing a foreground for surface optimization and articulation.

Architectural Morphogenesis differs from natural morphogenesis behavior due to a designated human intrinsic/ambiguous nature of thought. A new paradigm of architecture shifted from extrinsic concerns of contemporary architectural design into a central concern with computational design.

This form of architecture followed the bases of aesthetics and visuals rather than performance. Morphogenetic process Follows a bottom-up approach, which permits for feedback systems, overlapping existing parameters, resulting in a more cognitive, operative, and constructive architecture.

Venice Architecture Biennale 2016: Swedish studios Kjellander + Sjöberg and Folkhem have installed a wooden pavilion between the Venice Biennale venues, in tribute to the 10 million trees used to build the city's foundations.

Kjellander + Sjöberg and Folkhem teamed up to design the structure to demonstrate how versatile wood is as a material, as well as to promote its sustainability in a time when climate change and rising sea levels threaten coastal cities like Venice.

Rate this pavilion from 1-10? The BUGA Wood Pavilion designed by ICD and ITKE, celebrates a new approach to digital timber construction.
Its segmented wood shell is based on biological principles found in the plate skeleton of sea urchins, which have been studied by ICD and ITKE at the University of #Stuttgart for almost a decade.

As part of the project, a robotic manufacturing platform was developed for the automated assembly and milling of the pavilion’s 376 bespoke hollow wood segments. This fabrication process ensures that all segments fit together with sub-millimetre precision like a big, three-dimensional puzzle.
The stunning wooden roof spans 30 meters over one of BUGA’s main event and concert venues, using a minimum amount of material while also generating a unique architectural space.

Rate this handle from 1-10? A Machines Perception - Door Handle. Alexander Pelikan created a series of cutting edge door handles by controlling both possibilities and shortcomings of machines.

The exploring of errors in a 3D scan has led to the visualization of a scanner’s perception. With ‘A Machine’s Perception’ door handles, a flawed Virtual Reality became real and tangible. Developed in partnership with: research laboratory TNO Eindhoven and Studio Ludens. 3D printed in steel by i.materialise.

A3D scan is seemingly accurate but indeed it is very much subject to coincidence (quantum effects of the laser, processing software thresholds funny quirks of the processing algorithms).

Rate this pavilion from 1-10?Trabeculae Pavilion is a lightweight architecture that fuses advancements in Additive Manufacturing with bio-inspired computational design.

Designed by Actlab.Polimi.it in 2018, the project looks into 3D Printing for answers to the emerging problem of scarcity in material resources. The design is based on a computational process that finds inspiration in Nature, specifically in the materialization logics of the trabeculae, the internal cells that form the bone microstructure.

From this investigation, custom algorithms have been developed to support the creation of a cellular load-responsive structure with continuous variations in sizing, topology, orientation and section, in order to maximize material efficiency.

GAD‘s original designs for a hotel project in Cappadocia have been featured in a set of new designs created by GAD’s visualisation team.

Interior design by GAD for the project in Turkey’s Cappadocia created a synthesis of contemporary design and the ancient Christian and cave dwellings of the region. Traditional but stylish interiors of stone architecture emphasizing space and light highlighted the new vision GAD is bringing to tourism in Cappadocia and Turkey.

Rate this view from 1-10? Captivating shot by Netherlands based architectural photographer, @vasilmann, from @daniellibeskind ‘s Congress Centre of The City of Mons.

Studio Libeskind completed this innovative convention center in time for the advent of cultural and diplomatic activities in 2015, when this small medieval town transformed into the European Capital of Culture.

The Congres Centre’s cladding is open in a manner that gives texture and light to the bearing structure—ribbon concrete walls that ascend in a spiral. The lower walls are clad with vertical slats of unfinished robinia wood that echo the trees in a neighboring park. The upper are clad with vertical bands of anodized aluminum that follow the curve of the wall.

Rate the design from 1-10? Fjordenhus is a castle like office building in #Vejle #Denmark, designed by Studio Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann | 2018.

Accessible by footbridge, the twenty-eight-metre-high building is formed by four intersecting cylinders with brick facades from which ellipsoidal negative spaces were removed to create complex curved forms and arched windows.

The varying floor plans of the different levels are organized around circles and ellipses, with specially designed furniture and lights, and are connected by spiral staircases and round vestibules. By night, Fjordenhus is lit from within, resembling a lighthouse.
