Italian practice @peterpichler_architecture designs luxury “Tree Suites” as part of a new 7-star Hotel development close to #Kitzbühel, #Austria.

The form of the Tree Suites is informed by vernacular timber architecture in Austria, which has been reinterpreted "in a contemporary way". They will be built almost entirely from wood arranged as a diagrid frame – a structural system composed of beams that intersect in a diagonal pattern.

INT chair is a robotic assembly of bricks by the architecture students at the @bartlettarchucl . The design aims to introduce complexity in prefabrication.

The team looks into robotic assembly of #robotic bricks while also addressing the relation between users and robots. Through implementing feedback in the robotic assembly process, human interaction is incorporated. The design process becomes truly indeterminate and plays out in physical space, allowing for variegating degrees of customization and order. On the architectural scale, the project establishes a meaningful relation between degrees of order, fabrication method and human interaction.

Real Virtuality; @GillesRetsin Architecture combin

Real Virtuality; @GillesRetsin Architecture combines timber construction with Augmented Reality and Automation at the @royalacademyarts in London, United Kingdom. The installation was constructed out of serialised timber building block, using Augmented Reality to communicate between the digital model and the physical assembly.

The installation itself is a 1:1 test of a spatial fragment of a larger building. The spatial qualities are something close to the Diamonds House project (2016). The project is part of the Invisible Landscapes series, curated by @gonzaloherrero .

Renovating the old and inserting the new; Qishe Co

Renovating the old and inserting the new; Qishe Courtyard is a renovated house project by ARCHSTUDIO in #Beijing #China | 2020. The old and new are integrated into a new whole, to better meet future functional demands of reception and living for the compound.

The newly built veranda adopts a frame structure, with ribbed beams and panels on the ceiling, in order to maximize transparency and lightness as well as to better blend into the old construction. As for interior design, ARCHSTUDIO brought in various combinations of furniture made of old or new wood, which shows perfect mix of different hues and textures.

DUO’s curved, honeycomb-patterned facades create a delicate play of light as captured in this stunning shot by photographer @ichabunni .

Designed by @buroolescheeren , the DUO Twin Tower project in Singapore, with honeycomb pattern comprises a series of hexagonal sunshades that help protect the towers from the heat and glare of the sun, without interrupting the views out over Singapore’s gardens, oceans and skyline.

The grid also provides texture to the smooth, concave curves of the building, as well as accentuating the dramatic cantilevers and setbacks that form the two towers.

Dancing blocks of BIG’s Unzipped Wall in Toronto captured by architecture photographer @thirdworldhippy .

BIG’s “unzipped wall,” which served as the 2016 Serpentine Pavilion in London, has been opened to the public in Toronto under the new title “Unzipped.

To create the installation, over 1800 extruded fiberglass blocks were stacked on top of each other, parting to form an “unzipped” entrance to an interior cavern. While open in Hyde Park from June to October 2016, the pavilion attracted a record number of visits.

Proposal by @studiosymbiosis , the Aũra air-purifying tower helps to tackle the increasingly dangerous levels of air pollution in #Delhi, #India.

Described by Studio Symbiosis as "breathing lungs of the city", the Aũra towers have tapered, twisting forms designed to draw in polluted air and expel it in a purified form.

Cloud Pergola: The Croatian Pavilion at the 2018 V

Cloud Pergola: The Croatian Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Biennale designed by @alisa_andrasek in a collaboration with Bruno Juricic and robotic printed by @ai_build .

Cloud Pergola is an installation crossing the boundaries of architecture, art, engineering, robotic fabrication, and computational models. Formed of 300 kilograms of 3D printed bio-degradable plastic, the pavilion cloud-like structure is formed of voxels oriented along a field of vectors designed by using a multi-agent algorithm.

How can we formalize a simple yet open-ended algorithm that allows us to design intricate muqarnas? Can this algorithm help us to explore new and unseen muqarna formations?

Zurich-based architect and programmer Michael Hansmeyer premiered his latest project 'Muqarana Mutation' at the @moriartmuseum in Tokyo. The project takes inspiration from the muqarna archetypes of historic islamic architecture.

The algorithmic approach in this project centers on the design of muqarna ceiling plans. It uses a selective subdivision algorithm to generate and successively refine these plans.
