Sentosa Sensoryscape, designed by Serie Architects and Multiply Architects, is a pretty special 350-meter sensory experience on Singapore’s Sentosa Island. Part of the overall Sentosa and Pulau Brani masterplan to turn these iconic leisure and tourism hotspots into iconic destinations.

This project connects RWS and the beaches through an accessible, step-free corridor. It represents a total area of 13,089 square meters, where nature and architecture blend into one immersive experience for visitors of all abilities.

Sentosa Sensoryscape

A Two-Tiered Walkway of Sensory Exploration

Christopher Lee, Principal of Serie Architects, describes the Sensoryscape as “an ecological walk punctuated by six unique sensory gardens,” each serving as both a connector and a destination. This two-tiered walkway will have upper pathways supported by playful “hammock” structures, while each sensory garden reveals another ecological theme below.

The day and night gardens utilize parametric design techniques to create lightweight diagrid structures that allow light, nature, and views to pass through. This area becomes, at night, an immersive world of digital light art and augmented reality for visitors to have otherworldly surroundings that are sure to enhance their senses.

The garden spaces also feature the Tactile Trellis and Scented Sphere, which offer visitors sights, smells, and touches through their complex vessel-like appearances in concreted steel. These elements harmonize the natural and built environments. Thus, these innovative design elements will create a seamless blend of form and function and usher guests right into the sensory delights of Singapore’s iconic leisure destination.
