Oasis Curve consists of 67 columns of different heights in a curving layout

Oasis Curve, designed by FPA359 Design Office, is a new urban installation in Dubai that merges the natural elements with modern design, taking inspiration from the flowing shapes of waves and undulating curves of desert sands. It gives rise to a serene yet striking visual presence, wherein the venues celebrate in harmony the interaction of nature with urban life.

It comprises 67 columns of different lengths in a curvilinear layout, expressing fluidity from the sea and rigidity from the sand. Equilibrium, in this case, confronts the balance between the main forces of nature with those emanating from human creativity. The sinuous way allows going across it, creating different perspectives and sensations. Undulating heights and angles give dynamism to the interrelation of the columns, creating diversity in the visual and sensorial look.

Located in a high-profile public space within Dubai Design District, Oasis Curve serves as a creative landmark and social oasis; its fluidity contrasts with the geometric stringency of the city architecture that surrounds it. The nature of the structure-a series of columns set apart from one another-allows people to pass through to interact on either side, passing through freely and continuing to occupy the installation.

Such an installation, therefore, proves multifunctional to people of all ages. Children will climb and get to know the world on these lower columns, while adults can use those a bit taller as a place to sit. Some of the columns feature diamond-shaped motifs, with their roots in traditional Islamic geometric patterns, as reflective mirrors create dazzling light effects. These motifs signify the marriage of cultural aspects with modern design.

Oasis Curve was commissioned by the Jotun Paint Company for its new color design called Canvas 2024. During the day, as sunlight falls between the columns, hiding and seeking seems to create an atmosphere. LED light also transforms the installation into a luminous sculpture in the dark. Oasis Curve conveys environmental responsibility and awareness with recycled eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient LED lights.

Oasis Curve celebrates Dubai’s natural and cultural heritage: a bridge between the natural world and the urban environment. It invites residents and visitors alike to take time out, contemplate, and relish nature’s dynamic beauty and human ingenuity in equal measure.
