POP MART’s flagship store at ICONSIAM, Bangkok, transforms childhood wonders into contemporary design, celebrating the vibrancy of Thai culture and redefining the retail experience. Spanning 760 square meters, located on the 7th floor of ICONSIAM, it surpasses previous global benchmarks, most notably that of the Shanghai flagship, which measures over 500 square meters and holds the title of the world’s largest global landmark store.

POP MART Store: Culture of Joy
The POP MART Global Landmark Store at ICONSIAM marks a significant milestone as it transitions from a niche art toy seller to a global pop-culture lifestyle phenomenon. The store’s launch was strategically orchestrated to build anticipation and manage demand.

Following exclusive preview days on August 8–9, the public opening on August 10 drew huge crowds of Thai and international fans, demonstrating the impact of limited access and a well-crafted event.

ICONSIAM’s status as a luxury destination gives POP MART a powerful halo effect. The partnership reshapes the retail landscape along the Chao Phraya River, reinforcing POP MART’s identity as an affordable yet aspirational brand and attracting both Gen Z impulse shoppers and high-end collectors seeking exclusive editions.

The strategic location allows multi-level functionality, featuring immersive retail zones such as the MEGA Zone, a dedicated blind box area, the POP BEAN zone, and high-engagement spaces such as a VIP zone and a cafe. The first POP MART Café outside China, located on the second floor in collaboration with Greyhound Cafe, offers a menu inspired by character backstories, encouraging longer customer dwell time and transforming the store from a retail outlet into a leisure and community hub.
Design Philosophy: A Window to Fantasy

Designed by X+Living Architecture and Interior Design around the concept of a Window to the fantasy, it offers visitors a multi-level immersive journey into the POP MART universe. The spatial language integrates Thai cultural art and contemporary design with fantastical elements. Through the interplay of light, material, and color, the interiors unfold into a modern-day wonderland of play and imagination.
Spatial Storytelling

The polychromatic interiors draw deeply from Thai culture, expressing its three defining aspects: water culture, traditional Thai architecture, and inclusiveness. Spanning two floors, the space unfolds as an immersive experience of playful forms, curved walls, flowing lines, spiral-like paths, and large figurines of core characters, encouraging exploration.
Water Culture: The design is directly inspired by the Chao Phraya River, upon whose banks ICONSIAM stands. The circular forms and flowing curves evoke a sense of free movement and openness, enhancing the interiors with reflective surfaces and the interplay of light.

Traditional Thai Architecture: Influenced by both Rubik’s Cubes and traditional Thai design, the spatial composition on the second floor integrates geometric order with cultural motifs, merging playfulness and heritage in a contemporary expression.
Inclusiveness: The open layout embodies the brand’s philosophy of sparking passion and spreading joy, transforming the environment into a kaleidoscope of color and experience where everyone feels invited to explore and belong.
Pop, Play, and the Poetry of Space

The striking highlight of the exterior is a 4-meter-tall MOLLY figure in traditional Thai attire, situated prominently on the riverfront terrace. The two-story entrance showcases the CRYBABY character riding an elephant and the LABUBU Long-tail Boat Figure, symbolizing Thai heritage and storytelling.
Throughout the store, curated photo zones invite visitors to capture and share their experiences, transforming them into organic brand ambassadors and fueling the viral social media momentum central to POP MART’s marketing strategy.

Built around the blind box concept, rooted in the psychology of surprise, anticipation, and collectibility, POP MART ensures that its products are perceived as unique regional souvenirs and culturally resonant belongings, reinforcing the emotional connection and driving specific regional sales.
