KAFD 3D Modeling – Showcasing Riyadh’s Vision

In the heart of Riyadh, the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) stands as an iconic new addition to the city’s skyline. Covering 1.6 million square meters and home to 95 unique towers and buildings, this business and lifestyle destination is set to shape the future of Riyadh, blending modern infrastructure with world-class amenities and attracting global business and investment.

Central to the KAFD project is Craft Group, known for its expertise in architectural model-making and project coordination. Their work on the KAFD Visitor Center has set a high standard for architectural presentation, turning complex design concepts into a detailed and visually impressive 3D model that communicates the essence of this visionary development.

Bringing KAFD to Life

The KAFD Visitor Center model, created by Craft Group, highlights the power of collaboration and precise craftsmanship. Working with over 27 architectural firms and coordinating data from multiple sources, Craft Group constructed a 1:500 scale model over 12 weeks. Measuring 4700mm x 3700mm, the model brings together essential elements of the KAFD, including residential buildings, commercial offices, hotels and high-end restaurants, each illuminated by LEDs controlled via touchscreen. This intricate model provides a focal point for presentations, translating the KAFD’s ambitious design into an engaging physical format.

An Immersive Experience

On entering, visitors are greeted by an expansive 8m x 10m model displayed beneath a glass system, providing a dramatic overhead view of all KAFD iconic towers. The experience is enhanced by a 36-panel video wall showing real-life images and a 360- degree projection that fully immerses viewers. Interactive tablet displays allow guests to explore each tower in detail, offering a floor-by-floor look at this transformative district.

The completed center incorporates the latest technologies in 3D imaging, animation and architectural model making and interactive multimedia media. The King Abdullah Financial District marketing approach, encapsulated within the display, has set the standard which other large-scale infrastructure teams will no doubt endeavor to emulate within KSA.

A Benchmark in Architectural Model-Making

KAFD is reshaping Riyadh’s skyline, merging modern business and lifestyle elements into one exceptional development. The KAFD Visitor Center, is not just a display piece; it’s a testament to Craft Group’s skill in turning architectural visions into reality. By combining complex data into a detailed and complete presentation, Craft Group has provided a clear window into KAFD’s future as a global landmark and a proud addition to Riyadh’s cityscape.
