On October 7, 2025, the internationally acclaimed art collective teamLab will open its largest permanent museum in Japan, teamLab Biovortex Kyoto. Located in Kyoto’s Minami-ku district, the expansive space spans more than 10,000 square meters and features over 50 immersive artworks, many of which are being unveiled in Japan for the first time.

The exhibition explores the intersections of art, science, and nature, dissolving the boundaries between the human body and the natural world. Signature works include the Massless Amorphous Sculpture, a floating sea of soap bubbles that drifts and reforms in midair, and Morphing Continuum, which visualizes the unity of elements across time and space. Visitors will also encounter the Forest of Resonating Lamps, a glowing path of light-filled lanterns, and The Way of Birds, where thousands of digital birds soar in mesmerizing synchrony.

Interactive zones such as Athletics Forest and Future Park invite guests to physically and creatively engage with evolving artworks. Here, drawings transform into living ecosystems, slides cascade into digital waterfalls, and play itself becomes part of the artistic experience.

Founded in 2001, teamLab is known for blending art, technology, and philosophy, with exhibitions spanning New York, Paris, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and beyond. Kyoto now joins this global network, adding a permanent cultural landmark to the city’s already rich artistic heritage.

As teamLab Biovortex Kyoto opens its doors, it not only marks a new chapter for the collective but also reinforces Kyoto’s role as a nexus where tradition and cutting-edge innovation meet.
