Finch Launches Autodesk Forma Extension for Site, Layout, and BIM Workflows
Share

Finch, the generative design software built for early-stage architectural workflows, today announced the release of its Autodesk Forma® extension. This new integration connects Forma’s site-based analysis capabilities with Finch’s AI-powered layout generation, forming a unified, cloud-based workflow that spans from contextual massing to space planning and into BIM development in Autodesk® Revit®.

The extension brings together two of the most advanced platforms for AI-assisted, cloud-based design, enabling architects to work faster and more collaboratively, without compromising data transfer, creativity, or design quality. Architects and designers often end up in siloed workflows, especially during early-stage design, where switching between software leads to inefficiencies and data loss. By enabling seamless data flow between Finch and Forma, we are addressing this directly by bridging the gap from contextual site analysis to BIM-ready layout design.

Unlocking a new and modern workflow for AEC professionals

The new Finch extension for Autodesk Forma enables a connected design workflow that bridges early-stage exploration and analysis with detailed project development, linking two cloud-based design platforms with Autodesk Revit’s robust BIM environment.

Users can begin by leveraging Forma’s site-aware massing and environmental analysis capabilities, evaluating parameters like microclimate, daylight, noise, and views in real-time. This data-rich massing model can then be streamed directly into Finch through the extension, where users can leverage AI-powered tools to generate spatial layouts at scale. Unit configurations and floorplates can be customized based on performance metrics or project constraints, and rapidly tested in the design environment.

Once a layout is defined, Finch’s Revit add-on allows for a structured export of geometry, floorplate logic, and design data directly into Revit. This includes support for native BIM elements such as object families, area plans, and model groups, enabling a clean transition into detailed design and documentation workflows.

By uniting Forma’s analytical capabilities, Finch’s generative engine, and Revit’s BIM infrastructure, this integrated workflow minimizes data loss, reduces redundant modeling, and eliminates common bottlenecks between concept and execution. It represents a scalable, cloud-native solution for design teams seeking to accelerate early-phase planning while maintaining control, collaboration, and precision throughout the project lifecycle.

“The real value lies not just in speed, but in the ability to make better-informed decisions while spending more time on meaningful design work. With insights embedded from the very beginning, architects can design with greater clarity, confidence, and impact. This streamlined approach supports the growing industry demand for faster design cycles without sacrificing data integrity, performance insights, or creativity.”

-Pamela Nunez Wallgren, Co-founder & CEO, Finch

“Bolstering Forma’s open ecosystem leads us closer to an era of more agile processes and connected workflows for architects and designers. By combining Forma’s instant access to rich contextual data with Finch’s smart generative engine, we’re providing users with a more robust and insight-driven environment for their BIM projects, allowing users to focus on project outcomes.“

-Carl Christensen, Vice President, Autodesk Forma

Finch remains platform-agnostic, allowing teams to choose the tools that best fit their process. The new Forma extension joins Finch’s growing ecosystem of integrations, which already includes Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and now, Autodesk Forma.

The Finch for Forma extension is now available in the Autodesk App Store and can be launched directly within Autodesk Forma.
