Canada has revealed its pavilion design for Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. The Canada Pavilion’s theme is “Regeneration,” drawing inspiration from the melting of frozen waterways during spring. The pavilion’s exterior design represents a natural occurrence in Canada known as an “ice jam,” where melting ice forms temporary and intriguing formations as it flows on the surface of a river.
The Canada Pavilion, designed by Rayside Labossière Architects and Guillaume Pelletier, will reflect the natural cycles of the country’s four seasons.
“Canada has been working hard back home and here in Japan to advance Canada Pavilion plans. The Canada Pavilion will showcase Canada as an excellent place to invest, do business, generate new opportunities for economic growth and empower future generations,” said Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development.
“I’m delighted to have members of the Canada Pavilion creative team here in Osaka, along with friends of Canada in Japan, to join in presenting this first glimpse of the concept for the Canada Pavilion on the road to Expo 2025 Osaka,” said Laurie Peters, Commissioner General for Canada at Expo 2025 Osaka.
Canada’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka will serve as an opportunity to celebrate the longstanding close relationship between Canada and Japan and to advance its Indo-Pacific Strategy. The overall theme of Expo 2025 Osaka is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, with a focus on global collaboration and progress to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
