Beyond the technique of designing and building, architecture is much deeper. Throughout decades, much like humans and technology, architecture evolved.
A new style strived to distance itself from the rigid doctrines, uniformity, and lack of ornamentations of modern architecture emerged in the late 20th century. With postmodernism, buildings started to be designed to emphasize themes of history, individuality, whimsy, sarcasm, and pop culture.
High-tech architecture originated in the 1960s and had its heyday in the 1980s but continues to play a relevant aesthetic role until today, depending on the definition and interpretation of ‘high-tech’.
