Debuted during Milan Design Week 2026 at Alcova Milano, Brick by Brick by Renesa Architecture Design Interiors collaborated with India-based House of Knots to interpret the timeless language of brick architecture through contemporary rug design. Conceived by Sanchit Arora, the collection explores how architectural elements such as masonry, courtyards, and sectional drawings can be translated into tactile woven surfaces.
Through layered textures, earthy tones, and hand-crafted detailing, the rugs become architectural expressions rooted in craft and materiality.
Brick as the Foundation of Architectural Expression
The collection is inspired by the enduring symbolism of brick as one of architecture’s most fundamental materials. Shaped by hand and layered through time, brick becomes more than a construction element as it transforms into a metaphor for culture, memory, and identity.

Drawing references from Indian stepwells, masonry patterns, and spatial geometries, the rugs reinterpret architectural compositions into richly textured surfaces. Each design merges plan, section, and elevation into a single woven form, creating rugs that feel sculptural, immersive, and deeply architectural.
Hand-Crafted Rugs Inspired by Earth and Materiality
The beauty of each rug by Studio Renesa is that it is meticulously hand-crafted in India over 50 to 60 days by skilled artisans using wool and silk blends. The collection combines varying pile heights, layered detailing, and tonal gradations to evoke the depth and texture of kiln-fired terracotta, clay, and earthen landscapes.

The tactile quality of the rugs reflects Renesa’s focus on material honesty and sensory experience. Through custom dyeing techniques and intricate weaving maps, the collection transforms architectural rhythm and proportion into soft yet structured textile compositions.
Rug Design Beyond Decorative Surfaces
Instead of functioning as passive décor, the rugs are conceived as architectural artefacts that extend spatial storytelling into interiors. Each knot acts like a unit of construction, reinforcing the relationship between weaving and building.

The collection ultimately pushes rug design beyond ornamentation, presenting textiles as a medium capable of expressing architecture, atmosphere, and emotion. With its layered geometry and earthy material palette, Brick by Brick captures the raw essence of brick architecture while redefining the role of rugs in contemporary design.
